Emily Fredrickson

Emily Fredrick, Piano Instructor

Emily is from Marietta, GA and a Sophomore attending Berry College where she studies with Dr. Kris Carlisle. After declaring her major of Piano Performance in 2008, Emily received a performance grant from the Berry College Music Department. In addition to her eleven years of experience with piano, Emily's previous activities include marching band, concert band and a senior piano recital which she gave in the spring of 2007. Emily will be performing at Masterclasses around the state in 2009.

AVAILABILITY:
Monday 4-6pm. Tuesday 4:30-6pm, Wednesday 4-6pm, Thursday 3- 6pm, Friday 2:30-6pm

   
Greg Shivers

Greg Shivers, Classical Guitar Instructor

Growing up in Lawrenceville, Georgia, Greg Shivers began playing guitar at age 12 while learning the cello in the Creekland Middle School Orchestra. At age 13, he was recognized as a featured soloist for the Creekland Middle School Orchestra. Continuing his cello and guitar studies through high school in the Collins Hill High School Orchestra, he was awarded another featured solo with the high school’s top strings group, in which he also played cello. Before leaving his studies in College, he spent time performing in a local rock band and performing for local churches. He is now a senior Music Performance major at Berry College. During his studies he has been awarded with the Rome Music Lovers Club Award scholarship and was a featured performer for Berry College’s Firsthand Friday. He
has also been an attendee to the Christopher Parkening Master Class in Bozeman, Montana. In addition he has performed in master classes with the University of Georgia’s John Sutherland and Matt Anderson.

Andrew Wakefield

Andrew Wakefield, Guitar Instructor and Session Guitarist

Andrew began guitar at age of ten and hasn’t looked back. Today, a decade and a half later, at twenty-four years old Andrew is now a veteran in the world of all things guitar. From early on, he learned composition and theory from his father—also an accomplished
composer and artist in his own right. Over the years Andrew has accumulated a number of performance credits to his name. Andrew is a versatile guitar player who is knowledgeable in the genres of Rock, Blues, Jazz, Funk and Classical. He is comfortable teaching children and adults alike. His enthusiasm and passion for music and teaching makes him a welcome addition to our teaching staff.

Accomplishments
• Hundreds of gigs throughout the Southeast in venues such as The Orange Peel in Asheville, NC, Masquerade in Atlanta, GA, The Poor House in Charleston, SC,
• Shared the stage with various artists such as o The Funky Meters, George Clinton's Big Ol' Nasty Getdown, Galactic, Taobob Krewe,
• Original songs featured on WCLM FM in Columbus, GA, and also in CMT's TV program “Big Break”
• Hosted open mic night at The Watershed in Black Mountain, NC.
• Frequent session guitarist at the multi-million dollar Echo Mountain Studio in Asheville, NC, featured on albums such as The Trainwreks’ “Ready to Die” and Josh Phillip's Folk Festival's “Wicker”

Heather Panek, Woodwind and Low Brass Instructor

Heather Panek began her musical training at the age of four, learning piano.  At age 11, she joined the Pepperell Middle School Band on flute.  She performed on various other instruments, such as bassoon and saxophone through her middle and high school years at Pepperell.  She also served as drum major and student conductor for Pepperell High School for two years. Heather attended The University of Georgia where she studied flute with Ronald Waln and Angela Jones-Reus and eventually studied Tuba/Euphonium.  She graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Music Education and was band director at West Hall Middle School.  Heather was an instructor for many clinics and camps in multiple states, teaching different instruments and drum majors.  She was brass instructor for the undefeated brassline of Court of Honor Drum and Bugle Corps.  She has been a member of many successful ensembles and has performed as accompanist for choruses and soloist for a wide range of events.  Heather is in her thirteenth year as a private instructor.  Her students vary greatly in age and ability and report great success in their endeavors.
